Susan Proctor is originally from Springfield, Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She has been a working artist in the Atlanta area for the last twelve years. Susan has a diverse body of work including oils, acrylics and mixed media. She specializes in a unique expressionist style painting using a lot of color and pattern and she has recently begun creating what she calls “Palettables.” These are collage type images made out of disposable palettes on which colors have been blended on top of one another. She has also been working on a series called “Musical Chairs.” These are contemporary paintings of different chairs in which she incorporates old piano sheet music from which both she and her mother learned on.
Susan paints whatever inspires her. Her philosophy about painting is that a work of art should evoke some sort of emotion from the viewer and should be visually balanced and pleasing. Susan has participated in several juried art exhibits and fine art shows and has had her work featured by several interior designers. Susan is an active member of Dunwoody Fine Arts Association and is a past Vice President of Programming for Roswell Fine Arts Alliance. She has taught art and drawing to young people at three different art centers in the Atlanta area. Susan has also done some private commission work.
