Artists' Statement
In a word, I am diverse.
I love to apply any media to any surface with any tool. I use canvas, wood board, fiberboard, masonite and a wide variety of paper...on which I apply acrylic paint, oil paint, charcoal, pastel, paper towel, newsprint, tissue, fabric, old sheet music...by means of brushes, fingers, palette knives, putty knives, sponges and on and on. The end result is a unique contemporary expressionist style of art.
Everything that I see provides inspiration for me. Often, the paint itself provides the inspiration. I particularly enjoy painting faces and animals because they are each unique and have so much expression. I also love chairs and personify them in my paintings. They have wonderful angles and shapes as well as often unique stories.
My philosophy about painting is that a work of fine art comes not only from knowledge of the medium used but from a place within that is rather spiritual in nature. The end result is thus, one that evokes some sort of emotion from the viewer and is visually balanced and pleasing to the eye.
I am committed to continue creating art, expanding my knowledge of a variety of mediums and participating actively in the community.
